Offshore Well Abandonment in the Maritime Industry is when a gas or oil platform become none productive for the platform owners. An offshore well abandonment company is sent out to the offshore location, where the platform is dismantled above the water and then explosives are set to blow the structure in sections. From that point, platform sections are loaded onto a barge or offshore supply vessel, where it is taken to a scrap yard for disposal or recycling.
