Q2 2011

DEEPWATER SERVICE
Update

market forecasts | quarterly updates | analyst support | on-site assistance

The last three months have seen continued progress in the Brazilian deepwater sector. Petrobras has released tenders for three FPSOs, two of which will be installed on the Guara field, the other on Lula North East. A number of discoveries have also been made in the pre-salt Santos basin including Carioca North-East, Iara Horst and Macunaima. Petrobras are due to announce the new five-year spending plan by the end of May which is also likely to show heightened expenditure in pre-salt investments.

Further information and plans have become available for some important African discoveries which has boosted DW's medium case subsea tree forecast for this region from 546 to 646 and subsequently Capex values from $65bn to $73bn. Plans include subsea tiebacks to FPSOs for Tullow Oil's Enyenra (Owo) prospect off Ghana, and Exxonmobil's Bosi field off Nigeria. Total has also released commercial bid documents for its Egina FPSO off Nigeria so a contract award for the floater seems imminent. The result of these recent announcements, amongst others, supports DW's view of African market growth
.
